World Cup Challenge 2010
The Rules
- The cost of entering is £20 ($30 or €25) which must be paid in advance. When you register your interest in the Challenge I will send you full details on how to pay.
- All entry moneys must be paid to (and received by) me before the first match kicks off - i.e. Friday June 11th.
- Late payment of entry fees shall result in zero points being awarded for all matches played until the fees are paid.
- For the knock-out stages of the competition (Round 4), the points will be awarded based on the score at the end of the regulation 90 minutes (i.e. "golden goals" will not count, "silver goals" will not count, "purple goals with little red dots" will not count, penalty shoot-outs will not count, any other madcap scheme devised overnight by UEFA, FIFA or anyone else will not count).
- Forecasts must be submitted online via this web-site. If for any reason the web-site is unavailable when you attempt to submit your predictions and you subsequently miss the deadline your scores will be randomly generated as stated in rule 7 below.
- Forecasts for each match may be entered or amended any time up until kick-off (give or take a minute or three).
- Failure to register forecasts before the deadline will result in randomly allocated scores being assigned for the affected match(es). Randomly allocated scores will cover all possible results in the range 0-0 through to 3-3.
- 80% of all entry money collected (or thereabouts) shall be paid out in prizes, exact amounts to be determined depending upon the number of entries.
- Full lists of forecasts for each match can be viewed via the web-site as soon as the deadline for the match has passed.
- Results and point allocations for each game, along with "league tables" etc. will be posted as soon as possible after each match - normally within 24 hours at the outside.
- In the event of a tie for any prize, the relevant sum(s) shall be divided evenly between all eligible contestants - e.g. if two people tie for second place then the prize moneys allocated for second and third will be combined and then shared between the two.
- In the event of any dispute, I am right and you are wrong.
