W.A.F.F.L. - Fantasy Football With a Difference

Important: WAFFL is almost entirely independent of advertising - you won't find any banner adverts on the site, nor will you be plagued with pop-ups or inundated with junk-email. The downside to this is that most WAFFL competitions are strictly pay-to-play. If you are looking for a free game, I'm afraid you'll (probably) have to look elsewhere.

IMPORTANT: Please note that WAFFL 2011/2012 is strictly pay-to-play with an entry fee of £25.00 (€30.00 or $40.00) for the season. If you are looking for a free competition this is not it. Please do not waste your time or mine by registering unless you are prepared to pay the entry fee.

Have you ever felt you've had just about enough of that same tired old format of Fantasy Football - whereby you get allocated an arbitrary sum of money to select a squad of players, only to discover that your star striker's got dodgy knees, your keeper is suffering from a particularly nasty bout of Scottish Goalkeeper Syndrome, your central defender has fallen out with his manager and been loaned out to a Swedish second division team, and your midfield general is a regular victim of squad rotation to keep him fit for European games?

If you just answered “Yes” then perhaps you've come to the right place!.

Based on the results in the English Premier League, WAFFL runs for the duration of the English Premier League season and features multiple divisions each of which consists of a maximum of sixteen teams. Within each division, every team plays each other on a home and away basis. At the end of the season, the top four teams in each division wins a cash prize. If that's not exciting enough, there is also a three-up and three-down promotion/relegation system, a traditional knock-out cup competition AND a chance to qualify for the following season's European competition.

The end result is, hopefully, a fresh and unique look to Fantasy Football - one where you don't necessarily need to devote your entire leisure time to mulling over endless statistics, one where most of the participants have a realistic chance of winning something at least until the final month of the season, and one where almost every Premier League fixture takes on a new significance.

For more details please see the rules section or feel free to explore the details of the current season on the web-site - some areas are restricted to “Members only” but most of the site is open to guests.
