WAFFL – Week 9

November 23rd, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in WAFFL

First up – can I just say “Bloody Tottenham!!!”

Right – goals galore this week due to Spurs bagging 9 and plenty of other goals once again in the Premier League.

Ethynol Rangers remain top in Division One following a comparatively low-scoring 4-1 win over Igrox Athletic – but after Saturday’s fixtures they had been 8 goals adrift! North Sea Breezers triumphed in a dour 12-6 scrap over 8th of May to go second while Sabiya Wanderers drop to 3rd following their 3-3 draw with Cloughie’s Red Nose. Mesolithic Albion FC thumped reigning champions Dimi’s Crusaders 9-5 and are now level on points at the bottom with Igrox Athletic.

In Division Two, Why Do Fools? and The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley somehow contrived to both win 1-0 and are now joint top ahead of The International Team Salwa. The Firm F.C. rattled up the biggest winning margin of the week – 10-0 over Athletico Squirros – and spare a thought for Ibrox Reserves who rattled in 7 against The Auckland but still lost by the odd goal and are now bottom of the table.

Kuwait Hearts plough on regardless in Division Three, their 3-0 defeat of Fircombe Hall maintaining their 100% record and extending their lead to 8 points over Road To Nowhere who thrashed bottom club Connecticut Huskies 7-0.

There are two Premier League fixtures on Wednesday evening – Fulham v Blackburn is one of the outstanding fixtures from Week 2 while Hull City v Everton is a very early kick-off for week 12!

If you haven’t already done so – DO YOUR TRANSFERS!!!

Pontoon Update – Game 2 Week 6

November 23rd, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Pontoon

Apologies – another two week gap between updates. Chesterfield’s second nap-hand in recent weeks means calltheshots is now well clear in Game 2 on 15 goals. Nearest challengers are Bury (Richard Llanwarne – again!), Crewe (devonshot) and Morecambe (jock shot) on 11.

Shots aren’t the only team firing blanks at the moment – Barnet have also registered three successive ducks while there have been no less than 15 other blanks in the last three weeks. Could we be in for a goal-glut this midweek?

ShotsWeb Challenge update – Notts County 0 Shots 0

November 23rd, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Challenge

Three more games since the last update – and three more clean sheets including two more 0-0 draws. What Jason Dodd managed to start, Kevin Dillon has so far carried on!

Maxster still leads the way in the ShotsWeb Challenge with 97 points and had opened an 8-point lead but after a blank week the lead over Jet_Set_Willy is back down to just 2 points. Winchmore_Hill_Shot is third on 88 and then there’s a chasing pack led by Harry Palmer and ben_elton on 76.

More league action tomorrow night as Shots entertain Northampton and then it’s the magic of the cup as we travel to Tranmere for our 2nd Round clash. Oh well – it’s the closest we’ve been to Anfield for a good few years!

Loads-A-Money Week 6 Results

November 5th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in Loads-A-Money

The final set of group fixtures in this season’s LAM took place on Tuesday and Wednesday evening with 5 of the 8 Quarter-Final slots still up for grabs.

In Group One a late flurry of goals finally saw Scruffy’s BarBarians to victory over The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley and lifted them to the top of the group. TBSOPB also qualified as reigning double-champions The Firm F.C. went down 3-1 at home to Salwa Knackeredemicals.

Igrox Athletic Reserves booked their slot in the knock-out stages by thrashing Group Two leaders Be Champions (who had already qualified) 9-0. Bneid Al-Seaside needed to beat Titi Floats On to qualify but were held to a 1-1 draw.

The big game in Group Three saw The Chairmen and Mesolithic Albion FC go head to head – and it was the visitors who triumphed 4-0 to top the group. Qarasina al Oman qualify as runners up despite losing their final game against Fircombe Hall courtesy of a better head-to-head record against The Chairmen.

The top two in Group Four had already qualified – and Dimi’s Crusaders ensured they would top the group with an 8-0 demolition of Igrox Athletic. What’s Going On? gained a consolation victory over Ibrox Resreves in the other game.

WAFFL – Weeks 7 and 8

November 2nd, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in WAFFL

Another double update! Firstly an apology for an incorrect Premier League result sneaking into the system at the weekend – for some reason I managed to log Burnley’s 2-0 win over Hull as a 1-1 draw! Thanks to Hibby for pointing that out!

Ethynol Rangers suffered their first league defeat of the season in Week 7 with a 7-0 mauling at the hands of North Seabreezers – but regained top spot in Division One with a 6-0 win over What’s Going On? in Week 8. Rangers have 16 points – but are just one ahead of Real Salwagoza, North Seabreezers and Sabiya Wanderers on 15. Mesolithic Albion remain bottom of the table with just three points to their name – and a less than impressive -27 goal difference!

New leaders in Division Two are The International Team Salwa on 16 points, one ahead of Why Do Fools? and     The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley. Jone Salat Bangkok bring up the rear on 4 points, 2 behind Ibrox Reserves.

Kuwait Hearts remain the only club with a 100% record this season and lead Division Three by 6 points ahead of Bruce Almighty, with Road To Nowhere currently third. Connecticut Huskies have slipped to the bottom of the table with just 4 points to their name.

This week sees a return to Cup action with the Second Round, Second Leg fixtures – with a lot of ties very much still in the balance.

Loads-A-Money Week 5 Results

November 2nd, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in Loads-A-Money

Oops! Just realised I didn’t post an update after Week 5 – so better late than never!

In Group 1 The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley regained top spot with a 2-0 victory over The Firm F.C. and need just a point from their final game against Scruffy’s BarBarians to ensure qualification. BarBarians kept their hopes alive with a 2-2 draw against Salwa Knackeredemicals but must beat TBSOPB to qualify. Victory in their final game would also ensure qualification for reigning champions The Firm F.C. but even a defeat would see them through if BarBarians fail to win. Got that?

Be Champions have already qualified from Group Two and retained their 100% record with a 4-2 defeat of Titi Floats On (who retained their own 0% record!). Bneid Al-Seaside and Igrox Athletic Reserves drew 0-0 and are currently level on points – if they remain that way after Week 6 then Bneid would qualify based on their head-to-head record.

In Group Three The Chairmen kept alive their hopes of qualification with a 3-1 win at Qarasina al Oman. These two are level at the top on 9 points with Mesolithic Albion FC third on 7 after defeating Fircombe Hall 2-0 to end FH’s interest in this year’s competition. Albion need to beat The Chairmen in their final game to qualify. Despite their defeat in Week 5 Qarasina al Oman are certain of qualifying as they have a better head-to-head record than The Chairmen.

Also through to the quarter-finals are Dimi’s Crusader and Igrox Athletic from Group Four. Crusaders beat What’s Going On? 2-0 and currently top the group. Athletic were thrashed 5-0 by Ibrox Reserves – but having won their first encounter 6-0 are assured of at least second place in the group.

Final group fixtures take place over the next two days and the draw for the quarter-finals will be online by the week-end.
