ShotsWeb Challenge update – Torquay 1 Shots 1

September 30th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Challenge

Another indifferent performance away from home – but another valuable point in the bank and another game added onto the unbeaten run.

Maxster remains top in the Challenge on 63 points but now leads by just one point from a rampant Jet_Set_Willy who racked up an impressive 11 points for the match. The chasing pack are now some way behind with  Winchmore_Hill_Shot in third on 48 and then a trio on 46.

Next up is another tricky away game at Lincoln who will presumably be keen to impress new boss Chris Sutton after being trounced 3-0 by Notts County last night courtesy of a Luke Rodgers hat-trick. Personally I’d settle for a point – but we may need to up our game to achieve even that!

IMPORTANT – Change to Phase 4 Transfer Deadline

September 29th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in WAFFL

The Premier League fixture between  Hull and Everton originally scheduled for Tuesday December 15th has been brought forward to Wednesday November 25th due to Everton’s Europa League commitments.

To accommodate this the transfer deadline for Phase 4 has also been brought forward from 07:00 GMT on Saturday November 28th to 19:30 GMT on Wednesday November 25th.

ShotsWeb Challenge update – Shots 4 Chelmsford 1

September 29th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Challenge

A cracking display from the Shots saw us move up to joint 4th in the table – heady stuff after the disappointing end to last season!

Most punters predicted a win – but the margin of the victory surprised us all, especially when Scotty’s Beckham impersonation took the score to 4-1.

Maxster remains top of the Challenge on 58 points but Jet_Set_Willy has closed the gap slightly, with Winchmore_Hill_Shot, cambsshot and Harry Palmer completing the top 5.

This fixture was the September Bonus Game and the rollover kitty of £20 was split between cambsshot and M_Wiseman who scored 10 points each – and win £10 each.

This evening sees a return to Plainmoor – and hopefully a repeat of the result there in 2008 (although preferably with a little less late drama!).

Pontoon Update – Week 9

September 29th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Pontoon

After looking like a one-horse race for so long, all of a sudden the gap has closed somewhat as the Daggers’ goal-flow seems to have dried up a bit. One more for them on Saturday takes them to 20 – but the Shots’ 4-goal pasting of Chelmsford means that they are now up to 17 and there are a host of other clubs also into double figures . A blank for Daggers at Barnet tonight could make things very interesting – and of course a two-goal tally would see them bust and out of the competition. Exciting, ain’t it?

Site updates 26/27 September

September 25th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in General

I thought I’d better warn people that I will be making some fairly major changes to my web-site at the weekend (probably either Saturday evening or Sunday morning). These changes are to the structure of the site rather than the content or basic appearance so *should* be pretty much invisible to you – but there is always a possibility that some parts of the site may not work properly afterwards.

If you have any problems accessing the site feel free to email me on this address.

Pontoon Update – Week 8

September 21st, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Pontoon

Another week and another goal for Dagenham & Redbridge – but just the one this time to take them to 19 for the competition so far. 2 goals against Morecambe on Saturday would win Richard Llanwarne the first competition of the season – but 3 or more would bust them!

Waiting in the wings if Daggers do get carried away are Bournemouth (aldershottown4life),  Burton Albion (jockshot) and *ahem!* Aldershot Town (Andy Chillman) all on 13. If we can just get rid of that Llanwarne fellow we could be in for an exciting contest!

ShotsWeb Challenge update – Crewe 1 Shots 2

September 21st, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in ShotsWeb, ShotsWeb Challenge

I don’t know – all these away wins are just too  much to take! Another away day and another three points – and from all the way oop North in Crewe!

In the challenge, a mere 2 point haul takes maxster’s tally for the season to 50 but the lead over Jet_Set_Willy is down to 8 points. rogerg is third on 38 with Winchmore_Hill_Shot and Harry Palmer one point further behind. Top scorer for the week was supershots with 10 points – and boy did he need them!

Shots return to home territory this weekend for the visit of Cheltenham – which is the bonus game for September with a roll-over kitty of £20 up for grabs. Not quite Euromillions, but close enough!

WAFFL – Cup 1st Round, 2nd Leg

September 21st, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in WAFFL

Only one team managed to turn round a first leg deficit at the weekend – so congratulations to The Chairmen who beat The Greasy Chip Buttie 4-0 to go through 4-2 on aggregate and are now officially “The Comeback Kings”. Well, until next round anyway.

Once again the biggest winners were  Cloughie’s Red Nose who thrashed Be Champions 6-0 for an overall aggregate score of 13-0. Unlucky for some, but not CRN!  At the other end of the scale Road To Nowhere salvaged a 1-1 draw against Logan’s Run thanks to Sunday’s results for a 1-1 aggregate socre and go through to the next round on the away goals rule.

Back to league action this week with WAFFL Week 5 where both Division Two and Division Three see the top two teams go head-to-head.

Loads-A-Money Week 3 Results

September 17th, 2009 by Andrew Chillman in Loads-A-Money

The first round of UEFA Group matches produced a few surprise results – while the third round of LAM fixtures saw a few teams move to within one decent result of the quarter-finals.

Group 1 looks like being something of a “Group Of Death” with The Firm F.C., Scruffy’s BarBarians and The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley all on 6 points after three games. Salwa Knackeredemicals still stand a theoretical chance of qualifying – but then I still stand a theoretical chance of becoming a millionaire.

Be Champions maintained their 100% record in Group 2 and are hot favourites to go through. Bneid Al Seaside are currently second on 6 points with Igrox Athletic Reserves third on 3 and last season’s beaten finalists Titi Floats On yet to register a point.

Qarasina al Oman are almost certain of qualification from Group 3, again with a 100% record to date. The Chairmen lie second on 6 and must also fancy their chances of progressing as the other two teams in the group, Mesolithic Albion FC and Fircombe Hall, have just a single point each at the half-way stage.

Group 4 is another of those GOD scenarios with Dimi’s Crusaders and Igrox Athletic currently joint top on 6 points while What’s Going On? and Ibrox Reserves have 3 apiece. Literally anything could happen in this one!

The next round of games will be crucial for several teams. Fixtures are in two weeks time on September 29/30.
