WAFFL/LAM – 2010/2011 Prizes
OK – as mentioned below I cocked up somewhat on last season’s prizes – but I think I’m right for this season. So – prizes will be:
WAFFL:
| Divisional Champions | £100.00 | (3 prizes) | plus entry into LAM 2011/2012 | |
| Divisional Runners-up | £50.00 | (3 prizes) | plus entry into LAM 2011/2012 | |
| Divisional Third Place | £25.00 | (3 prizes) | plus entry into LAM 2011/2012 | |
| Cup Winners | £75.00 | (1 prize) | plus entry into LAM 2011/2012 | |
| Cup Runners-up | £50.00 | (1 prize) |
As well as the prizes listed above, the fourth placed teams from each division plus the two teams with the next best overall records for the season will qualify for free entry into the 2011/2012 Loads-A-Money season. The final LAM place is reserved for this season’s LAM champions. If the LAM champion already qualify through WAFFL league position then the final place will go to the next-best placed WAFFL team.
LAM:
| Losing Semi-Finalists | £25.00 | (2 prizes) | ||
| Runner-up | £50.00 | (1 prize) | ||
| Champions | £75.00 | (1 prize) | plus entry into LAM 2011/2012 |
Loads-A-Money – They Think It’s All Over blah blah blah
Sorry – went AWOL for a week of two there partly as a result of the bloody hackers!
Anyway – here’s the story. Heather’s Igrox Athletic hammered Rachel’s Igrox Athletic Reserves 10-0 on aggregate to lift this year’s trophy – plus, of course, the £70 first prize. Rachel picks up £40 consolation prize – and, according to the latest news in from Reuters, the sack. It’s a tough old life at the top. The incoming manager has more legs than Rachel – yes, next season we will have our SECOND canine manager in WAFFL. The whole competition’s going to the dogs!

Loads-A-Money Semi-Finals 2nd Legs
OK – done and dusted – and we have the ultimate local derby lined up for the final as Igrox Athletic will take on Igrox Athletic Reserves.
Igrox Athletic battled out a 4-4 draw in their second leg match away to Qarasina al Oman but the real damage was done in the home leg where they won 4-0 for an overall aggregate score of 8-4.
Igrox Athletic Reserves game against Dimi’s Crusaders was unavoidably close as they had identical line-ups, thus guaranteeing a one-goal victory for the home team in each leg. Having kept a clean sheet at home in a 1-0 win, IAR duly progressed on away goals following a 5-4 defeat in the second leg.
Final will be played over two legs commencing on March 30th and ALL remaining UEFA teams are available for selection in any position.
I’ve never really worked out whether the Igrox teams are genuinely being managed by the distaff side of the Robinson household or whether it’s just Geoff in a frock (or two). If it’s the latter, I hope the men in white coats are on hand for when he starts playing mindgames with himself in the run-up to the final!
Loads-A-Money Semi-Finals First Leg
First leg games have been completed and it’s looking good for Igrox Athletic who whipped Qarasina al Oman 4-0 and must be odds-on to reach the final.
Things are a lot closer in the other game between Igrox Athletic Reserves and Dimi’s Crusaders – which is hardly surprising as they have identical line-ups, thus guaranteeing a one-goal victory for the home team in each leg. Igrox Athletic Reserves won the first leg 1-0 and will now be hoping for a higher scoring result in the second leg to give them the advantage of away goals.
If the second leg also finishes 1-0 then the tie will go to extra-time – and with both sides also having Bayern Munich representing them for extra time, a single goal for the German team in their tie away to Fiorentina would also see IAR through on the away goals rule.
If the sides are still level after extra time then the penalty allocations are:
Igrox Athletic Reserves: CSKA Moscow, AC Milan, Inter Milan
Dimi’s Crusaders: Sevilla (1), Fiorentina (1), Manchester United (3)
Note that Dimi’s penalty takers have all played their away legs so his penalty total (should it become relevant) is 5.
World Cup 2010 – Let’s get this party started!
OK – the first matches are now barely 5 months away and it’s time to start up the World Cup hype machine. We all have to do our part – so I’m doing mine by opening up the World Cup Challenge 2010 for registrations. Woo-hoo! Entry costs a mere twenty quid and I also accept payment in Euros, US Dollars, Green Shield Stamps and shiny coloured glass beads. You can register here – but only if you really want to! If any of your mates have more money than sense feel free to invite them along.
I can’t wait to see the Ingerlund squad on Top Of The Pops singing their fab(io) World Cup song !
p.s. – If you have any problems registering (or with other areas of the site) please email me using the links on the web-site or reply to this post.
Loads-A-Money Semi-Finals Draw
Last Friday saw the draw for the knock-out stage of the UEFA Champions League and also the LAM semi-finals – which kept alive the chance of a Robinson Family Final as Igrox Athletic and Igrox Athletic Reserves were kept apart.
Actual draw is:
| Igrox Athletic | v | Qarasina al Oman |
| Igrox Athletic Reserves | v | Dimi’s Crusaders |
First Leg ties will be played over 16/17/23/24 February with the return legs played over 9/10/16/17 March.
Loads-A-Money Quarter-Finals
This week’s CL matches formed the Quarter-Final second legs – and all matches started off as close encounters.
Dimi’s Crusaders edged their second leg against Mesolithic Albion FC 4-2 for a 4-3 win on aggregate while Qarasina al Oman also overturned a first-leg deficit by beating The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley 2-0 to go through 2-1 on aggregate. The third close finish was between Igrox Athletic and Be Champions who were goalless after the first leg - Athletic progressing courtesy of a 5-4 second leg victory – although Lyon almost turned the tie for Chamipons! Not much to say about the fourth tie other than congratulations to Igrox Athletic Reserves – and I hope the respective defences of Vfl Wolfsburg and Juventus are suitably ashamed of themselves.
Semi-final draw will be done shortly.
It’s coming home to South Africa ……..
That’s right – the preliminaries are over, the ridiculously elaborate draw has been made and the wallcharts have been prepared (unless you’re a total slacker). Now it’s time to start the countdown in earnest!
Between June 11th and July 11th next year a total of 64 matches will be played during the World Cup Finals in South Africa. Some of the best footballing nations in the World will be there – and so will England! Your challenge, should you choose to accept, is to forecast the correct score in all 64 matches. Piece of cake I’d say – but even if you don’t manage to get all 64 matches spot on you’ll still earn points for getting close.
Usual rules apply – and it’s all strictly pay-to-play. In 2006 we had 39 mugs and the top prize went to Dave Pierce – so there’s hope for us all!
Registrations will be open soon – or you can email me to pre-register if the excitement’s all too much for you!
Don’t be a World Cup Willy – get yourself registered today, safe in the knowledge that the competition will still hold some interest for you even after Ingerlund have succumbed on penalties to a bunch of cheating dago foreigners! Where else could you have this much fun for a mere twenty quid without getting arrested?
‘Ere we go, ‘ere we go, ‘ere we go!
