WAFFL - because football is a team game!
Important: WAFFL is almost entirely independent of advertising - you won't find any banner adverts on the site, nor will you be plagued with pop-ups or inundated with junk-email. The downside to this is that most WAFFL competitions are strictly pay-to-play. If you are looking for a free game, I'm afraid you'll (probably) have to look elsewhere.

Loads-A-Money Semi-Final first leg
Blimey – doesn’t time fly when you’re not watching? Suffice to say the group stage has been and gone – as have the quarter-finals. The semi-final first legs saw one close game – and one not so close! Igrox Athletic Reserves and Mesolithic Albion fought out a 1-1 draw so will go into the second leg all square – but in the other tie Road To Nowhere hammered Ethynol Rangers 7-0 to leave Swiggy’s wet dreams of a WAFLL/LAM double lying in soggy tatters.
Second legs will be over 6/7 and 13/14 March.
WAFFL latest news
Oh dear – I really should update this news section more often. Oops! Oh well – here we go!
Ethynol Rangers continue to lead the way in Division One with a 4 point lead over 8th of May and The Auckland. Could it be back-to-back championship titles for Swiggy? At the bottom, Igrox Athletic are now 3 points adrift of Dimi’s Crusaders but it is very congested above them – plenty of teams seem to have more chance of relegation than of winning the league!
In Division Two The International Team Salwa lead by just a single point from The Firm FC with Weddell’s Wanderers 3 points further back. Why Do Fools? are well adrift at the bottom with just 5 points to their name so far with Kuwait Hearts and The Bastard Sons of Peter Beardsley currently occupying the other relegation slots.
The tightest race at the top comes in Division Three where just a single point separates joint-leaders The Red Machine and Neolithic Wanderers from third-placed The Schmidtkickers, while Bneid Al-Seaside are also well in the hunt just two points further back. Like a fat tart’s trousers, it’s tight at the bottom as well with Jone Salat Bangkok, Kirton Kickers and Scruffy’s BarBarians separated only by goal difference.
With the prolonged Cup group stage now done and dusted (or almost!) the league fixtures will now start to come thick and fast – and you never know, I may even manage to keep up in terms of posting news!
Speaking of the Cup – the Group stage is now finished – other than a few outstanding game waiting on the rearranged Giro-Derby which is now due to take place on March 13th. Most of the qualification places were clear-cut – but there are still a few outstanding results which could result in a couple of changes in the last 16 clubs. As the knock-out stage starts this coming weekend I have made the draw for the first round based on a bit of guesswork – if the results of the outstanding group stage matches turn out different to what I have assumed then a few minor changes will be made to the 1st round games accordingly.
ShotsTalk Pontoon Game 1 Result
Congratulations to Tilershot who lifts the first Pontoon of the season courtesy of Morecambe being first to the magical 21-point mark. Tilershot gets to choose between a year’s subscription to Premium Shots and a year’s subscription to Cash For Shots.
Game 2 will start on Saturday October 8th. Super!
ShotsWeb Challenge – post Accrington away
Shall we have a quick update while we’re waiting for ManU ticket details to be announced? Yeah – why not!
Saturday’s defeat at Accy was a disappointment in terms of predictions as well as league points – but Danny’s brace coupled with a predictably low crowd meant there were still a few points around.
14 games into the season and Maxster leads the table with 61 points, just one point ahead of StanleyW and Jet_Set_Willy who in turn are one point ahead of 4th-placed Nobby. All about as tight as you’d like it!
The previous week’s highly disappointing defeat to Creepy Crawley was the bonus match for September – but with nobody scoring the required minimum of 9 points the kitty rolls over to October when a total of £15.00 worth of Pontoon entries will be up for grabs.
WAFFL
The WAFFL season kicks off on the same date as the English Premier League - which for the 2012/2013 season means Saturday 13th August - and runs the full course of the English League season.
The closing date for WAFFL entries for the 2012/2013 season will be Saturday 6th August and once again entry for the season will cost £25.00. Payment is also possible in US Dollars ($40.00)) and Euro (£25.00) and I can also accept payment in other currencies on request.
I hope to accomodate everyone who registers but, if not, preference will be given to existing members followed by new members on a first-come, first-served basis.
ShotsWeb Challenge
The ShotsWeb Challenge 2012 will kick off at the same time as the new Coca Cola League 2 season - Saturday 6th August - and will cover every competitive match played by the Shots over the course of the season. There is no closing date for entry - but people joining after the start of the season will obviously be at a disadvantage.
Entry for the season will cost £10.00 ($17.00 or €12.00) and a minimum of 20% of all entry fees will be donated to the Football Club in the form of sponsorship.
